Coleg Llandrillo Cymru library reading group “A Good Read” held an author/visit event on Friday, 28 November. Author Charlotte Williams was invited to talk about her autobiographical book Sugar and Slate. Reading group members, who had read the book, were given an opportunity to ask Charlotte questions about her work. An interesting hour was spent listening to the author, describing the ideas and writing techniques that she used in her book to depict what it was like to grow up as a half Welsh – half Afro-Caribbean female living in Britain. Charlotte grew up in Llandudno and traced her roots back to Africa and the Caribbean. In Sugar and Slate she conveys her experiences in the form of a personal memoir and story.
The Coleg Llandrillo Cymru Library reading group – “A Good Read”, meet on a monthly basis at lunch times. The reading group, which is attended by college staff, use reading group book-sets provided by Conwy Public Libraries. Pat Hebron, librarian, said “access to the resources that we borrow from the public libraries give our reading group a chance to widen our reading choice – this makes for a richer exchange of ideas and discussion”. The event was sponsored by the North Wales Library Partnership (Libraries for Life).

The visual dictionary contains clearly labeled diagrams that cover animal, plant and human biology. Search by main topic, by word or use the alphabetical table to find anything from the internal anatomy of an earthworm to the human nervous system. When you find the diagram you want, but would like further explanation, click on the Wikipedia icon, which will then take you to a full description of the chosen subject on Wikivisual.
