Staff Reading Group
Do you enjoy “a good read” and talking about books?
If you do, you might be interested in becoming part of a staff reading group we’re planning to take place in the library.
The reading group sessions will be aimed at admin/support staff and will probably take place over the lunch hour period (12-1 pm) on a regular basis.

We’ll provide the book packs for you to read and discuss, as well as the room and refreshments.
If you’re interested in being part of the Reading Group, please contact Pat Hebron on Ext. 423 or via email.

A recent BBC article suggested that half of all men in the UK aged 16-24 haven’t read a single book in the past 12 months……and others argue that you don’t have to read books to be intelligent and knowledgeable because we now get our information in other ways….
BUT
Last year people in the UK bought an estimated 338 million books, thats 13% higher by both volume and value than five years ago! And that the bedroom was the preferred location for reading by 45% of general readers….
AND
the greatest growth in value for 2006 in the UK came from the academic/professional (+7.1%) and non-fiction/reference (+4.7%) while in America the greatest growth came from the religious category (+5.6% on 2005) and the adult trade (+3.9%) - what can we make of that?
HOWEVER
A recent survey by the American IMLS/PEW Foundation also found that Internet users were more likely than nonusers to go to the library and the report concludes that Internet use isn’t making libraries less relevant
REMEMBER
Becuase the way we produce and gather information has changed and many more people are logging in to get their daily information fix, it’s more important than ever to develop both general literacy and computer literacy skills ………
Your library & IT Workshop are here to help you achieve both

There is now a permanent page to display our opening times on the blog.
We will display any changes or holiday arrangements there in future, as well continuing to post notices around the Bodnant Building (K Block).

Linc Y Gogledd is the new co-operative agreement between libraries in North Wales to share reasources among their users. It’s the next step in breaking down information barriers and opening up libraries to everyone in the area.
For you, as members of Coleg Llandrillo Library, this means you can borrow books from Bangor University and nearly all the Public Libraries in North Wales. Coleg Llandrillo Library does not charge for this service! It also means that if you have a good borrowing history here, you can join Bangor University library and use their facilities.
If you are a member of a North Wales Public Library, you are now able to join our library here in Coleg Llandrillo (don’t forget your passport sized photograph!) and even Bangor University.
To join a member of the Linc chain - download a form and get it stamped and signed in your main library
Why not search other library’s catalogues online before coming in to reserve an item?
