Newsbank – New to the Library!

Posted by LibeRaCe on February 26, 2010

Coleg Llandrillo Library is now offering free access to NewsBank’s Access Wales and U.K. Newspapers through the ATHENS system! This web-based resource enables instant searches across local, regional and national newspapers from Wales, England, Scotland, and Ireland. It is the ideal tool for discovering facts about issues and events related to business, politics, health, sports, science, people, the arts, life styles and more.

Newsbank contains thousands of full-text articles from more than 20 Welsh and over 350 U.K. daily and weekly newspapers. Includes the North Wales edition of -

  •  the Daily Post

  • the Western Mail

and also the Times from 1985 forward, the Economist, the Financial Times, the Guardian and the Scotsman. Daily updates ensure current news, and archived articles can be used to track subjects historically. Standard keyword searches can be conducted, and the map-based interface makes it easy to compare and contrast issues and perspectives from different countries.

Both English and Welsh-language versions of the interface are provided.

Don’t forget you can also access local news headlines from the homepage of this blog!
