Counter Questions – Shakespeare the Musical!

Posted by LibeRaCe on September 17, 2007

Do you have any musicials on video?

Seemed like a straight forward question, however the students asking actually wanted a video of Romeo and Juliet (we guess Baz Luhrmanm’s version with Leonardo Titanic Di Caprio and Claire My So Called Life Danes). In the library we have Franco Zeffirelli’s version (order via reservation from Denbigh) and a large range of Shakespeare’s other plays and sonnets. Find them at 822.33 and add the first 3 letters of the play title i.e.822.33 MAC – Macbeth, 822.33 KIN – King Lear.

Find out more information on the man himself – Who was he really? What do you know about where he lived and how it’s  being preserved? For a greater understanding of what may have influenced his writing, investigate the era he lived in… For a modern (and hilarious) take on the Bard, have a look and a listen to the Reduced Shakespeare Company podcasts.

For actual musicals, have a look at the videos and DVD’s to the right of the main library counter – AV 791.43.
