One Response to “A-Levels Online – Geography”

  1. Dear

I was doing some research on the web and come across your excellent website. It seems we may have a common interest in aiming to educate and facilitate learning. My own discipline is Geography, which I have been teaching for a number of years, and I thought I would let you know about a dictionary that I have created and added to our website to help students. It is aimed at Geography students and others studying related disciplines.

The resource has been developed in response to my own frustration at there not being any comprehensive Geography dictionaries or glossaries on the web that are free open-access and appear reasonably easily on search engines. I believe that restricted/subscription access to dictionary web pages is wrong. The terms defined do not belong to anyone. The definitions compiled here have been rewritten from a huge variety of academic sources and are based on my own educational experiences and my experience of teaching Geography in Hong Kong since 1997. Occasionally, I have included links to reputable web sites when I couldn’t do a better job myself. There is no ethical reason why students should be prevented from benefiting from a resource such as this and that is why I have made it open-access.

Given your own web presence, I thought you may wish to add a link to this resource to this page.

The address of the dictionary is
    It covers
    • Physical Geography
    • Human Geography
    • Related disciplines
Over 1400 terms have been defined and all cross referenced with live linking, primarily aimed at supporting students who are studying Geography or related subjects such as Earth Sciences. The definitions of terms that have been included are most of the major subject specific words that students will come across when studying Geography from the school years in the age range 12-18. First year undergraduates may also find it a useful reference point for topic areas that they did not cover at secondary/senior/high school.
Please take a look. I hope you’ll like it and link and help aspiring Geographers, wherever they may be.
