Welsh Information Literacy Project – Phase III

A hello and welcome from the new WILP project team. No transition is ever easy, and where technology is concerned it’s very true in this case, so our first team post will be hosted here on the Coleg Llandrillo Library blog for the time being. Many, many thanks to Cathie, Sarah and Louise for all their help, support and advice over the past few weeks. Their expertise and significant achievements during Phase I and II have created a solid foundation for Phase III developments, not too mention very high professional standards which we hope to emulate!

For those of you who may not have been aware, Phase III of the WILP project was recently awarded to Coleg Llandrillo’s Library and Learning Technology Service (LLTS) team, lead by Dr.Andrew Eynon. In addition to Dr.Eynon as Project Coordinator, the team has three part-time project officers –

Pat Hebron (LLTS – Senior Information Officer) who has been involved in the project since January

Síona Murray (LLTS – Information Officer) who started in April

Gina Maddison (Learning Resource Assistant) who also began her role in April

Pat, Síona and Gina all hold various other roles within Coleg Llandrillo LLTS including teaching on the Library Foundation Degree, promoting Reader Development within the college and supporting staff and students in improving their own information literacy skills.

Phase III of the project is currently in it’s infancy, however there are three main streams that the project team will be concentrating on developing over the next 12 months:

Public Libraries

Schools/Education

Information Literacy for Employability

While Phase III is wide ranging in it’s aspirations, all of these streams are linked by the importance the team places on promotion, advocacy and stengthening stakeholder networks – both locally and nationally. This cross sectoral and collaborative approach has also been a crucial element in the successes of Phase I and II and the Coleg Llandrillo team hope to develop this even further.

To contact the project team, please use the new email address wilp@llandrillo.ac.uk or we can also be reached through the project website. You can also call us on (01492) 542342 or indeed follow us on Twitter @welsh_info_lit.  If you are that way inclined, we have also set up a WILP tag on our delicious.com/Llandrillo_Library account – why not join our network and share resources?

We very much look forward to working with you all!
