FREE Training – Social Media in Libraries @ Grwp Llandrillo Menai

Posted by LibeRaCe on May 3, 2012

*PLEASE SHARE some information about a FREE taster session for the Professional Development Award of ICT in Libraries qualification (ICTL) that Grwp Llandrillo Menai Library staff are running on the 22nd May from 10.00-3.00pm at the Rhos on Sea Campus. Refreshments and lunch will also be provided.

If you’re reading this blog post, you probably already know about tools like Google+, Google Docs, LinkedIn, Twitter or Blogger, right? But do you know someone who thinks these could be a great help but who never had the chance/time/opportunity to try them out? Then this could be their lucky day! This FREE taster session will be a chance to take part in, and complete, a unit of the ICTL qualification called Digital Culture – Online Communication. The unit is designed to give people the chance to learn in bite sized pieces and explore the social media tools mentioned above – all in the context of using them in a library or information service.

Everyone involved will be encouraged to try out these tools to discover their relevance/potential to their Library services and most importantly to share and comment as a group on your experiences. Participants will be encouraged to complete some of the assignments during the session, with further online support and tutor contact after the session to reach the learning outcomes. Your tutor will be there throughout to give context, direction, answer questions and support learners.

To book your place on the free taster session of the Online Communication Unit in Grwp Llandrillo Menai, Rhos on Sea campus on 22nd May @10.30, please contact me off list at siona.murray@llandrillo.ac.uk.

To learn more about the full ICTL programme, the course website is here – http://www.ictl.org.uk/. Level 7 and Level 8 of the ICTL are usually completed by participants during Sept – May. There are limited CyMAL funded placements on the full course for 2012/2013 – please contact LLTS Manager Andrew Eynon for more details at a.eynon@llandrillo.ac.uk .
